Gypsy Shadow Releases Two New eBooks

GSP congratulates Violetta Antcliff and Joe Novara on the releases of their eBooks this week. G. Baxter & Flint CASE: The Tangled Web by Violetta Antcliff is the second book in the G. Baxter & Flint Private Investigator Series, and follows G. Baxter & Flint CASE: Perjury by Proxy. After 25,000 Masses by Joe Novara is a sequel to I’m Here. Both of Joe’s eBooks are stories about elder romance and finding love again.

In The Tangled Web, one woman’s moment of fame on television triggers problems for two people: a vulnerable young woman with everything to live for, and a man, who to keep what happened in his past secret, is tempted to take things to the extreme, including murder if necessary. Can G. Baxter and Flint, private investigators, sort out this tangled web to the satisfaction of both parties? Or is this just one case too many for our dynamic duo?

After 25,000 Masses, sequel to I’m Here, which was published by GSP in October of 2018, is the story of a retired priest who sets out to free himself from the constraints and bonds of his lifelong vocation. Fr. McRae decides that he has done a good job of being a priest and can now, in good conscience, step away from the calling and all of its demands. Open to new possibilities, he goes on an Elder Tour where one of his fellow travelers turns out to be a woman who knew him as the school chaplain when she was a senior in high school. It takes Bernice a while to recognize Fr. Tim and, given her boredom at being the only unattached woman on the tour, takes her time teasing him into acknowledging his former life which in turn means admitting to her girlish ‘crush’ on him. The story soon moves beyond their improbable early connection to the exhilarating possibilities of elder love.

The Dragon, the Witch and the Railroad by Elizabeth Ann Scarborough

July 30, 2016 By Charlotte Holley Leave a Comment

Fantasy fans will be happy to discover the 5th book of the Seashell Archives collection by Elizabeth Ann Scarborough. Elizabeth Ann has not lost her touch for bringing her readers a huge dose of tongue-in-cheek humour, the kind where you stop and reread the lines to be sure the author really did say that! Even though it’s part of a series, this book is a perfectly legitimate beginning for a new reader, soon to be a fan, of this wonderful author.

Progress has transformed Queenston, capital city of Argonia. Once the land of witches, wizards, fairies, and other magical people and animals, since the Great War, the country has changed. Queenston, particularly, is now the city of contraptions and conveyances, including a modern international railroad.

In the Great War Argonia’s dragons allied with the armies to push back an invasion. For their assistance, the beasts shared what food remained as the country rebuilt itself. But with the war won, the allies came to “recover” the war-torn country, bringing with them new ideas and inventions, most of which only needed a supply of iron and a reliable source of heat for their boilers. The dragons were again recruited, tamed, altered and virtually enslaved to power Progress.

Verity Brown is a modern girl. The magic of her witchy foremothers has become, if not actually illegal, highly unfashionable. The only magic that matters to Verity is her own curse, forcing her to know and tell the truth regardless of convenience.

On Verity’s 16th birthday, a hot-air balloon crash kills her father. The balloon’s dragon and wrangler rescue Verity, but are blamed and sentenced to be put to death. Her honorable quest to save them and find her father’s murderer takes her straight into the den of the wild and ferocious Dragon Vitia.

Viktor Brandewyne finds himself tasked with finding the most flighty of the Sisters of Power. He tracks her from New England to the ends of the earth. She sets him the task of retrieving three things as the price for a portion of her magic: a dragon’s egg, a dodo’s egg, and a drop of blood from the Daughter of the Dragon, one of the few beings capable of killing him.

Lady Carpathia has her own agenda concerning Viktor. Though she comes to realize just how dangerous he is, she still hopes to seduce and use him to overthrow her master before she ultimately destroys the pirate-turned-vampire.

Fraught with danger, Viktor’s chances of surviving this quest are almost as slim as those of him completing it. How can he acquire the eggs of a mythical beast or of a creature that has been extinct for nearly a century?

After the Martians by Steven R. Southard

July 29, 2016 By Charlotte Holley Leave a Comment

Some authors have a special talent for taking the reader on a journey across space and time – in After the Martians, a tale from the What Man Hath Wrought Series, Steven R. Southard takes the reader to a world of science fiction, an alternate reality where Earth is in the midst of the first world war – with the added twist of an invasion by the Martians being inserted into history.

In 1901, the Martians attacked Earth, but tiny bacteria vanquished them. Their advanced weaponry lay everywhere—three-legged fighting machines, heat rays, and poison gas. Now, in 1917, The Great War rages across Europe but each side uses Martian technology.

Join Corporal Johnny Branch, a young man from Wyoming, as he pursues his dream to fight for America. Follow magazine photographer Frank Robinson while he roams the front lines, hoping to snap a photo conveying true American valor. Perhaps they’ll discover, as the Martians did before them, that little things can change the world.
